Investing in Our Veterans & First Responders
Having served as a US Army Medic, Khristian knows what it means to put your life on the line in service of those around you. In the State House, she’ll look after the veterans and first responders in our community by:
- Expanding access to veteran mental health resources.
- Ensuring adequate resources to the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.
- Expanding upon legislation which provides tuition-free college to the children of fallen police officers and firefighters by including veterans who are 100% disabled.
- Ensuring our police officers receive the resources and support they need to keep our communities safe.
Good Education to Good Careers
A good career starts with a good education. As a mother of two young children, Khristian knows how important it is that our future generations receive the best education by:
- Expanding career and technical education opportunities to prepare students for the jobs of the 21st century.
- Ensuring all forms of higher education – whether they be college, community college, or skilled trades – are affordable and accessible.
- Increasing the per-pupil funding for our K-12 public schools and keep it up with inflation.
- Supporting our teachers with fair pay.
- Protecting Governor Whitmer’s universal free breakfast and lunch program.
Expanding Economic Opportunities for West Michigan
Every year, West Michigan continues to make a case for itself as the ideal destination for families and businesses looking to settle down. As State Representative, Khristian would work to keep the momentum going by:
- Funding new potential economic opportunities for the Grandville, Walker, and NW Grand Rapids area.
- Upgrading our aging infrastructure to reflect the growing population and business needs.
- Expanding access to public transportation systems which connect all our communities.
- Promoting family-oriented policies like paid family leave and expanded daycare access to incentivize more families to start a life here in West Michigan.
